Malek brings a deep understanding of the automotive and emerging transportation industry as well as a bold vision for what the future of mobility holds.
Malek Founded of Middle Third where she supports the future of mobility and the transition to vehicle electrification by working with early-stage mobility startups as well as early to mid-career automotive professionals on understanding and accessing opportunities within the evolving sector.
Malek’s career included EV product development, corporate venture, and strategy at General Motors. She was the Co-founder and COO of May Mobility, first-of-its-kind autonomous vehicle transportation solution. She also served as the Executive Director of the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility, a global initiative of c-suite leaders and former regulators with a mission to inform, shape, and advocate for policies that address the changing mobility landscape through a systems lens that is rooted in research and puts people first.
Malek has been recognized as a Notable Leader in EVs by Crain’s Detroit in 2022, received the University of a Michigan Department of Integrative Systems + Design (ISD) Alumni Merit Award in 2020, was named an Automotive News All Star in 2019, a top ten female innovator to watch by Smithsonian in 2018, and named a top automotive professional under 35 to watch by LinkedIn. Prior to SkillFusion, Phillips’ entrepreneurial journey included co-founding True South Renewables Inc., the first and largest independent solar O&M company in the U.S., and 365-Pronto, a digital dispatch platform for solar technicians. His career in renewable technology also includes President of Solarrus, Founder and CEO of Pacific Renewables, Co-founder and President of EV Connect. Phillips is also a sought-after advisor for Fortune 50 and Global 2000 companies around the world.
Rue is a frequent event keynote and technical speaker speaking on behalf of cleantech trends and he also serves on expert advisory committees for the development of codes and standards for the U.S. renewable energy industry.
